SCHEDULE B - OVERVIEW OF PROCESS FOR DETERMINING REMUNERATION WITHIN A BAND
1. The flow chart below outlines the process that ESTA will use to determine specific
remuneration within a salary band.
2. The process outlined will be used to determine a salary range which will be advertised
for any vacancies. The range would not normally exceed 10%. The range will also be
included in the Position Descriptions of roles when they are updated or advertised.

Evaluation using Mercer methodology to determine work value points (WVP)
This is completed by a dedicated ESTA committee or Mercer in cases of conflict
[STEP] Role assigned band
WVP determines the band from 1-7
[STEP] Remuneration determined
Consider budget for role
Consider gender pay equity
Consider current market if required
Consider relativities of other roles in band
Consider level of competency
Consider candidate expectations based on current pay rate
