NBN BULLYING CASE

We have previously reported on the decision in the case. Note that NBN has lodged an appeal of the Decision.

NBN SOD CASE

The mediation with NBN took place this week with no agreement reached. The matter will be relisted to arrange directions for the hearing of our claim.

BULLYING ACTIVITY ACROSS NBN CO

Resulting from a growing number of reports of bullying across various areas of NBN Co, our CWU T&S Branch has now raised this issue with senior management. The Branch has also raised concerns regarding the "great place to work survey" and reports of staff in the past being leaned on for providing negative feedback. Notwithstanding that, the Branch has requested a copy of the survey outcomes. At this stage NBN management have agreed to meet with the CWU and discuss the survey.
We have further requested that this opportunity be used to discuss the broader bullying issue across NBN and any proposed management actions to rectify this issue. Given some individual victim's fear of reprisal, we are seeking to address this from a broader perspective in the first instance. (Ken Hardisty CWU Industrial Officer)

TELSTRA MEDICATION DECLARATION

We received several inquiries about the ambiguous nature of the directions. An extract from the direction states:
The medication declaration process involves an employee completing a form with their medical practitioner. This form is then reviewed by their manager to ensure they can safely perform their role.
If you are on medication, you will be seeing Doctor anyway. So unless your Doctor advises that you should make a declaration to your employer, it seems that you have no obligation to complete the form. Even then we have concerns that your private medical details are reviewed by "management".

TELSTRA COMPUTER SOFTWARE UPDATE

We also have some inquiries about being asked to undertake software updated on computers at home that is work. Yes you can be asked. Take careful note of the time spent setting up and monitoring the updates. Then lodge a claim for overtime at the minimum rate (1 hour or as appropriate.)
