HFC - TELSTRA HANDS TO NBN

This week at the Lonsdale HFC head-end in Melbourne. After 30 remarkable years of high-speed broadband and Pay TV services transmission, Telstra successfully decommissioned the last remnants of the Telstra Hybrid Fibre Coaxial network.
This significant step involved switching off the final network monitoring and optical transmission equipment at the head-end, which once fed all the surrounding exchange areas from the CBD to the city limits. This responsibility now lies with NBN, utilizing their own equipment.

TZV UNIFORMS CASE

The case has been delayed as TZV were not in a position to respond by the time previously agreed. The matter will be heard in June, on a date yet to be determined.

TZV REDUNDANCY - GENERAL

We are receiving a number of inquiries about redundancy in TZV as reviews in the support area are being conducted. TZV policy applies the Victorian Public Service Policy. It is not in the Enterprise Agreements. You can google it of find it on our web page.
Redeployment is a desired outcome but in many cases it will be an involuntary redundancy. If terminated the following benefits apply.

  • Pay out of all accumulated annual leave
  • Pay out of all accumulated long service leave
  • Payment of Notice benefit
  • Payment of retrenchment benefit

    TZV REDUNDANCY - BENEFITS

    The minimum period of notice above is increased by one week if the employee is over 45 years of age and has completed at least 2 years' continuous service.

  • 1 additional week pay if over 45 years of age
  • 2 weeks' pay for each completed year of service to a maximum of 10 years

    CWU example:

    Say you have 15 years service and age is over 45. Note we do not give advice on this check your entitlements before acting

    Notice       = 4 weeks + 1 week 		   =  5 weeks
    Retrenchment = 4 weeks + 1 week + 2x10 weeks       = 25 weeks
