AUS POST - NEW CONTRACT DISPUTE TO FWC

Last week we reported on some clauses of concern with the Post contracts. These are a requirement if you are promoted. See Bulletin 29 of 2024
We have just filed a dispute in the Fair Work Commission seeking to resolve the dispute. Watch this space, particularly if you are being asked to sign a new contract.

CWU ORPD STATEMENT

Members are advised that we have published our Officer and Related Party Disclosure Statement (ORPD) for the 2023-24 year. See CWU ORPD 2024

TZV EBA PROGRESS

The EBA is being amended to incorporate the Heads of Agreement. The drafting is almost complete as various corrections etc have been made to ensure that the EBA reflects the agreement. The EBA is being submitted to Government for approval and this may take weeks. We will try to keep you informed on progress. See the Heads of Agreement page

ACTU ON PAY RISES

Thanks to the power of union members' campaigning efforts and the Albanese government backing workers, in the last two years:

  • Full-time award workers have received a $5.30 per hour average pay increase (equivalent to $10,400 a year before tax).
  • The minimum wage has increased by $3.77 per hour; after a 5.2% increase in 2022, 8.6% increase in 2023 and 3.75% increase in 2024.
  • A full-time minimum wage worker is now receiving an extra $143 a week, or $7,451 a year, before tax.
  • The average pay rise for workers covered by new collective agreements reached 4.3% - a 15-year high.
  • The number of workers covered by agreements is 2.14 million, up by 480,000.
That means more workers are getting higher pay. It took the ª"we love low wages" Coalition a decade to achieve what union members and the Labor government have delivered in two years.
Not only do union members earn $312 more than non-members, on average, but the bigger our movement, the more powerful our collective voice, and the more positive change we can drive.

*Also, data consistently shows that union-backed collective agreements (those which have been negotiated by union members) consistently deliver higher wages than non-union agreements
