AUS POST CONDUCT PROCESS

Aus Post has introduced a new Conduct Management Procedure (CMP), replacing the previous Employee Counselling and Discipline Process (ECDP).
The new CMP sets out how conduct issues will be managed moving forward.
Members who find themselves in the unfortunate situation of being subjected to the process should expect quicker progression of matters, rather than investigations running for extended seemingly never-ending periods and outcomes will be guided by a disciplinary matrix, which should provide clearer expectations
Importantly, if you are involved in a conduct process, you still have the right to:

  • Have union representation or support
  • Ask questions and seek clarity
  • Be treated fairly and respectfully throughout the process
Key changes to be aware of
  • The previous system (counselling, increment reductions, transfers) is being replaced with a warnings-based system, with transfers used only in exceptional circumstances
  • Local managers will have increased responsibility for handling alleged misconduct
  • The process is designed to reduce administrative complexity and shorten timeframes
While simplifying the process may help in reduce delays in bringing matters to a close, members should be aware that greater discretion at the local management level makes it important to ensure decisions are fair, consistent, and properly justified.

    AUS POST CMP OUR SUPPORT

This new process has been introduced following consultation and is intended to provide more certainty, consistency, and timeliness. We will continue to monitor its implementation closely to ensure it delivers on these commitments and that members are treated fairly at every step.
Importantly, if you find yourself in the unfortunate circumstance of being subjected to the process, it is important that you engage with your delegate or our Branch early. Do not wait until the matter escalates.
It is critical that you understand your rights and the process being followed so that if something does not seem consistent or fair, you can raise it and seek support immediately.

    PROPOSED CHANGES IN TELSTRA

Telstra has advised of proposed structural changes with some redundancies (of course):

One year into our Connected Future 30 strategy, Telstra's ambition is clear and unchanged: to be the number one choice for connectivity in Australia.
In support of this ambition, a new function is being established called Telstra Digital Infrastructure, bringing together InfraCo, Telstra International and Field Services . The change aims to strengthen the delivery model for our infrastructure business and create a more consistent approach to Field delivery across Telstra. This reflects a deliberate choice to operate as an integrated and scalable business, so we can better respond to our customers and a fast - moving market with the ambition to be Australia' s
and the Asia Pacific Region's leading digital infrastructure provider.
To support this new structure, we're proposing changes that strengthen go to market execution, clarify accountability and better align teams around shared outcomes, while reducing duplication and improving efficiency. If implemented, this would result in a net reduction of 111 roles, alongside the creation of 43 new roles across several teams. These new roles are primarily located in Australia , with a small number in international locations. There are no role reductions in the existing Field Services business area.

PROPOSED CHANGES IN TELSTRA - CORPORATE AFFAIRS

Corporate Affairs is proposing changes to create a more cohesive, future - ready operating model one that can adapt to a changing environment and deliver greater impact for Telstra, its employees and its stakeholders. These changes are designed to strengthen how the team works together, with clearer accountabilities, improved alignment of capability to priorities, and stronger partnership with the business.
The proposed model will reduce duplication, clarify roles and rebalance capability across the function. This includes simplifying structures, consolidating a small number of roles, and introducing a small number of new roles where additional leadership or specialist capability is needed to deliver our priorities. If implemented, this would result in a reduction of 12 roles, alongside the creation of 16 new roles .

PROPOSED CHANGES IN TELSTRA - STRATEGY & FINANCE

There have also been changes proposed to roles and reporting lines in our Commercial Office & Financial Services , Global Business Financial Services , Procurement, Global Billing & Collections, Property, Reporting Services and Tax teams.
These changes are about ensuring our teams have greater clarity on accountabilities, driving better alignment with other parts of Telstra, and finding ways to operate more efficiently . If implemented, the changes would result in a reduction of 19 roles, alongside the creation of 3 new roles .
