MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS UNFAIR DISMISSAL

One of the not so obvious benefits of membership is our ability to represent you should you face dismissal. We have very experienced officers who can deal with your employer when you are most vulnerable. Because of the obvious confidentiality issues that accompany threatened dismissal, we are unable to report them.
We have many successes in the area of dismissal but we are unable to report them because of non disclosure agreements.
To give you an idea of the work, we currently have 4 cases in Fair Work involving Telstra, Aus Post and TZV.
Most will be resolved "on terms that cannot be disclosed". In lay terms, it means that the parties have negotiated an agreement to resolve the matter.

MELBOURNE CUP - OFFICE CLOSURE

Our office in Melbourne and will be closed on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th November Melbourne Cup.

OPTICAL FIBRE UPGRADE CLAIM

We wrote to our registered claimants this week seeking confirmation that they wish to continue. This is necessary as Telstra made two rounds of offers which were attractive enough for some to accept. Please respond asap an we wish to move ahead.

TZV CASUAL CLOTHING ON WEEKENDS

This claim was heard in the Fair Work Commission this week in Melbourne. There were three witnesses and TZV briefed a KC to present their case. Commissioner Mirabella heard the matter and she has reserved her decision.

SERVICE STREAM - MEMBERS REJECT UNFAIR EBA

In the recent vote on Service Stream's proposed Enterprise Agreement, an overwhelming 86.9% of participating employees voted NO, rejecting a deal that fails to deliver fairness, respect, and recognition.
The EBA failed to deliver fair wages - 3% per annum is far below inflation resulting in a pay cut, in real-terms. On-call, meal, and LAFHA allowances were tied to the inadequate wage offer. Your claims for better redundancy entitlements were flatly rejected. Travel time compensation is discretionary, not guaranteed leaving members at the mercy of individual supervisors.
This decisive NO vote empowers the Union to demand Service Stream return to the bargaining table in an effort to negotiate a fairer outcome which we have done this morning. Should Service Stream refuse to return to negotiations, members will be empowered to escalate pressure including considering engaging in protected industrial action.
