| Number 36 21 September 2025
LEAVE ARRANGEMENTS John Ellery will be acting as our Branch Secretary for the next two plus weeks until 9 October. Please do not use my personal number if you have it (088xxx) , as I will be overseas. My Union number 0428 942 878 will be diverted to John's number. PAUSE IN BULLETIN There will be no Bulletin in the next 2 weeks unless an urgent matter arises. (We recently changed the sending arrangements and are working on a new system). TZV SUPPORT EBA DELAY TZV have confirmed our view that the Support EBA cannot be introduced until next year because TZV has not yet completed their work. They have to get approval from the Vic Government before putting the proposal to the Union. We will not accept a delay in the pay rise, nor any result where a member is worse off. This is a time when union membership must be very high and committed to a fair outcome. It is far too early to discuss possible protected industrial action, but we know that members will not accept a deferral in pay and allowances. TZV SUPPORT EBA DELAY NEW DEMANDS
We will make new demands to ensure that no one is worse off and that members are not disadvantaged by delayed approval of the EBA. We will be seeking:
TZV SUPPORT EBA LOG OF CLAIM Discussions have continued about a number of other clauses in the EBA. Some sub clauses are still being discussed but we have reached an understanding on some clauses. We will open a new web page shortly and publish the clauses. We have discussed the following clauses and provisionally agreed. TELSTRA OPTICAL FIBRE CLAIMS
There is progress but it is slow. Telstra is rejecting our claims and we are now to meet with lawyers who will help us as it takes a lot of preparation time. I did Jayawardana Case alone, but it was very time consuming.
NBN SOD DEVELOPMENTS NBN lawyers filed their defence in the case this week. Some further interchanges will take place now. The matter is listed in the Court for further directions on 10 October. TELSTRA HFC DISPUTE This week we filed a dispute in the Fair Work Commission alleging that Telstra has failed to comply with the EBA. HFC in Telstra has closed down and Telstra will not recognise the situation as a redundancy matter. High level technical staff have been assigned lower level work such is cleaning payphones, pole inspections and pit inspections. Our attempts to resolve the matter have been rejected by Telstra.
